Trust and Safety
VelvetBox is committed to maintaining a safe environment for every member. We operate a multi-layered program to prevent exploitation, abuse, and human trafficking, and we cooperate fully with law enforcement when concerns are identified.
1. Age Protection
- Membership is restricted to adults aged 18 and over. Date of birth is collected at signup and the platform refuses to create accounts that do not meet this threshold.
- Every member must complete identity verification before gaining full access. Members may choose between a live selfie match or government-issued identification.
- All uploaded photos are screened by automated facial age estimation. Suspected minors are blocked, the account is suspended, and the case is escalated to our Trust and Safety team.
2. Member Verification
- Identity verification is mandatory for all accounts. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, used only to confirm identity and age, and not shared with other members.
- Profiles and photos are reviewed by trained moderators before they become visible to the community. Submissions remain in a pending state until approved.
3. Content Moderation
- All uploaded images and videos are scanned by a third-party content moderation service for indicators including nudity, weapons, recreational drugs, violence, gore, and self-harm. Flagged content is removed or routed to manual review.
- Our moderation team reviews flagged content, member reports, and profile signals on an ongoing basis. Accounts that violate our policies are suspended or permanently removed.
4. Reporting Channels
- Every profile and conversation includes an in-app report option, with categorized reasons including suspected underage users, harassment, scams, inappropriate content, and offensive behavior. Reports are queued for prompt review.
- Members and members of the public may also contact our Trust and Safety team directly at safety@velvetbox.app to report suspected trafficking, exploitation, or abuse.
5. Law Enforcement Cooperation
- Suspected human trafficking, child sexual abuse material, or other criminal activity is escalated to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline and to the appropriate law enforcement agency, which may include the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, or local authorities depending on jurisdiction.
- Account data, communications, and uploaded content related to any suspected criminal activity are preserved in accordance with applicable law to support investigation.
- VelvetBox responds to valid legal process from law enforcement within reasonable timeframes. Subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants may be directed to legal@velvetbox.app.
6. Ongoing Review
- Our moderation team is trained to recognize indicators of trafficking, coercion, and exploitation. Detection rules, reporting flows, and escalation procedures are reviewed regularly and updated as new patterns emerge.
